Do the children need a passport for the Indian visa application?

Yes, they need their own passports to apply for an Indian visa and for travelling to India. The list of the required documents for each special case is listed below.

If the passenger is younger than 15 years and travelling alone without parents, they will need:
- a visa application form signed by a parent or legal guardian;
- a copy of ID or passport of parents or legal guardians; 
- an authorization signed by the parents or legal guardians who are not travelling (original).
If the passenger is younger than 15 years and travelling with one parent, they will need:
- a visa application form signed by a parent or legal guardian;
- a copy of ID or passport of a parent or legal guardian who is not travelling;
- an authorization signed in front of a notary public by the parent or legal guardian who is not travelling (original).
If the passenger is younger than 15 years and travelling with both parents and if the parents didn't submit the visa applications at the same time as the child, they will need:
- copies of the valid Indian visas of the parents travelling together with the child;
- a visa application form needs to be signed by a parent.
